Saturday Sky: My Favorite Mermaid
Thanks for all the compliments on the Brook Trail scarf! You are all very kind. At the moment I have several gift-knitting projects underway — only 86 knitting days until Christmas! — so I have no knitting to show you. That may change soon, given my current raging case of startitis. Gift knitting always seems to have this effect on me; I know I'm not alone, but I wonder how much company I have. When you're working diligently on duty/gift/deadline knitting, do you experience a nearly uncontrollable urge to start something fun/frivolous/just for you?

It depends on the gift knitting ... usually I pick something I really enjoy knitting. My giftees often get cooler stuff than I make for myself. I end up with the stockinette socks or plain sweaters in between the more challenging gifts!

Yes! and it's terribly strong, and can totally drive me crazy.
Ouch! only 86 days? I haven't even finished some of last years items yet. Maybe I can turn that around - actually putting me ahead of the game this year. I'm really good at coming up with the perfect ultimate gift to be made about a week before the big holiday, and my simple mind actually thinks it can be finished to perfection in time.

Ack! Ack! I was feeling like xmas was miles and miles AND MILES away, but then I read 86 days and I thought no way not so soon. ACK!

Yes. Most of my projects are gifting things, and I'm dyin' to knit the Sylph sweater. Or the Mr. Etherknitter sweater again.

Scarves, hats, and Hershey's Pot of Gold chocolates are Christmas standbys for me. It's a Big Deal for me to knit something with shaping.
Lovely photo. Gorgeous model. Love that fresh, sweet smile.

Any kind of deadline (even totally self-imposed ones) give me fits. I do very well with the project monogamy up until a certain point, and then I end up starting six new things. It's just like dieting, I think... I can manage to be really, really good for a week, but then comes the blowout. ;-)

Absolutely. Once I start something for someone else, I always feel like I eed some selfish knits on the needles for me too!
