Environmentally Friendly

When in doubt or suffering from blogger's block, recycle, I always say. Herewith our trip to Canada, part deux — actually part trois if you count last Friday's flowers.

Lene remarked fairly recently on the fact that public recycling bins, ubiquitous in Canada, are hardly ever seen in the US. For some strange reason I'd never thought about it, but she's right. You see them now and then in restaurants and stores that have a greenish theme, but they're the rare exception. I've been known to take my recyclables home to dispose of them properly. Lene's right about Canada too: during our brief sojourn there we saw them everywhere.

We also saw some lucky sheep with a spectacular view.

See those trees on the left? The wheel, and the leaves, turn yet again.

  • I think that there are some states/cities that have public recycling bins, but you are right america is behind the curve on this one. My company (which sells a "green" service) just barely started recycling paper and they still don't have an option to recycle cans/bottles.

  • Wow! The sheep sure do have a view. Wonder if they ever look up? ;-)

  • The best view for a sheep is more grass and another sheep nearby. An old sheepherder once told me that a sheep wants nothing more than to go somewhere inconvenient and die. Their highest ambition is to die in the only freshwater spring in thirty miles and pollute it for weeks. He didn't have warm fuzzy thoughts about sheep.

  • I saw red on some trees LAST MONTH! Crazy, huh? There's a few trees around here starting to go now too, these are the ones that usually go earlier than the rest, I think they are stressed.
